In response to the ongoing pandemic, we will be producing a short, mostly unscripted, no-frills daily podcast series: “Social Insect Distancing”. We hope that learning a little about ants will provide cross-species comfort for anxious human readers!

Sugar poop! I will never look at a honeydew melon the same way again…thanks?

We believe that it is best to leave more fruit for the ants and less fruit for the humans, so if by this comment you mean you will consume less honeydew melon, you are welcome!

Well, it was quite a leap quite frankly to ants dominating the world. Would you care to fill in some of the blanks? Thank you, fascinating podcast!

We’re glad you appreciate the podcast! In terms of global domination by the ants, we would simply cite that ants are conspicuous features of nearly every terrestrial ecosystem on Earth. Ironically, Antarctica is the one continent without any ants! Iceland also has no ants (definitely not Icelant).
